FAQ

Questions about QR codes

What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?

A static QR code stores the content (a link, Wi‑Fi login, contact card …) directly in the pattern, so it can never be changed and works forever without any server. A dynamic QR code stores a short link that points to our redirect service, so you can change the destination at any time after printing, pause the code and see how many times it was scanned.

Do the free QR codes expire?

No. Static QR codes made with the generator on this page are created in your browser and contain the data itself, so they never expire and have no scan limits. Dynamic codes keep working as long as the code is active in your account.

Can I add my logo to a QR code and still have it scan?

Yes. When you upload a logo the generator automatically switches to the highest error correction level (H, about 30 % redundancy) and clears the modules behind the logo, so the code stays readable. Keep strong contrast between the dots and the background and test with a phone before printing.

Which file format should I use for printing – PNG or SVG?

Use SVG for print: it is a vector file that stays razor sharp at any size, from a sticker to a banner. PNG (1600 px) is ideal for websites, presentations and social media.

How does QR fault reporting work?

You put a QR sticker on a machine, room, vehicle or product. Anyone who scans it gets a mobile form that already knows which object it is, describes the problem, picks a category and can attach a photo. The case lands in your dashboard where you assign a technician, follow the status (New, Assigned, In progress, Waiting for parts, Done), log time and order parts from suppliers. The reporter gets a status link.

What size should a printed QR code be?

A good rule of thumb is that the code should be at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in) and about one tenth of the scanning distance – so a poster read from 3 metres needs a code of roughly 30 cm. Always keep a quiet zone (empty margin) around the code.
